The Marketplace is a web-based application that is a separate experience from the mobile product component. It is available exclusively in a web browser and can be used independently of the mobile application and its core features.
The Marketplace allows users to purchase and sell a variety of cosmetics — called collectibles — to later customize their profile’s appearance in the mobile app. Some obtainable items feature secondary benefits that unlock access to exclusive features, namely Marketplace Perks (e.g., access to hidden groups).
Users can buy collectibles directly from the Marketplace or from other users on the market by winning auctions, purchasing a listed item, or submitting an offer that is accepted by a seller.
Once they become the owner of an item, they can use it to customize their mobile app profile or make it available on the market and sell it.
A Marketplace account is separate from the mobile app account, and accounts can be linked to enable customization and access to Marketplace Perks in the mobile app. However, users are not required to use both apps simultaneously. If accounts aren’t linked, mobile app users have access to the whole experience minus the ability to customize their profile or access perks, whereas Marketplace users can freely acquire and trade collectibles.
